Day Seven: My Favourite Living Thing

To end your child's journey through living things this activity gives them the chance to pick something that has been of interest to them and show what they know!

Step One: Review What We Have Learned

  • Talk to your child about what they have learned about living things and what they need to survive. If needed take a look back through some of the videos presented in earlier lessons. Remind them that: 
  1. Living things need energy (food, water, nutrients)
  2. Living things react to things in their environment
  3. Living things reproduce
  4. Living things can grow and change

Step Two: Time to Practise

  • Help your child pick out their favourite living thing. Remember this can be an animal or a plant. If you would like to explore some new animals before choosing, take a look at the San Diego Zoo website. This website offers pictures and information about all the animals that live at their zoo. There are even some videos available!
  • Once your child has chosen their favourite living thing have them create an "All About" book using the template below. If you do not have access to a printer, don't worry! You can still have your child create this book on blank paper. Don't forget to have them add the pictures!
  • *Be on the look out for evidence of learning by seeing if your child can share information about a living thing of their choice, including if they are a plant or animal, and what their needs are.*
